Moscow - Berlin Talgo train service launched by Russian Railways
In an inauguration ceremony at Moscow Kursk station on December 17, Russian Railways launched train service between Moscow and Berlin. Train coaches will be provided by Spain based Talgo Train Company. This service will solved the gauge problem between Europe and Russia since coaches have variable gauge which can do transition in 20 minutes. Journey time between Moscow and Berlin will be cut by 4 h 45 min to 20 h 14 min, while the eastbound timing of 20 h 35 min will be 5 h 21 min faster than the current service. Train will run at a maximum speed of 200kmph. Russian Railways has will run its Talgo trains as Strizh. Russia has launched this service keeping in mind 2018 FIFA world cup. Inauguration ceremony was attended by Transport Minister of Russia Mr Maxim Sokolov, Russian Railways President Mr Oleg Belozerov and Talgo president Mr Carlos Oriol.
